# My Data

> Add your own shapefiles, spreadsheets and drawings to the map.

Open **My Data** on the left rail.

## Upload a file

Drop files on **Drop files, or draw on the map**. QuickScout reads the file in your browser.

**Accepted:** Shapefile (.zip, or .shp with its sidecar files), GeoJSON, TopoJSON, KML/KMZ, GeoPackage, FlatGeobuf, GML, GPX, MapInfo (.tab/.mif), DXF, DWG, SQLite, and spreadsheets (CSV, TSV, TXT, XLSX, ODS).

**Not yet accepted:** file geodatabases (.gdb), old Excel (.xls), Access (.mdb) and GeoParquet.

### Spreadsheets

A spreadsheet can be placed on the map in several ways. Pick one under **PLACED FROM**:

* **Lat/long columns**
* A **WKT** column
* An **API number** column, as **well surface holes** or as **wellbore paths**

Choose which columns to keep under **COLUMNS KEPT**. The card then shows **ON MAP** when it's done, or **NOTHING PLACED** if no rows could be located.

## Draw on the map

Choose **Point**, **Line** or **Area**, draw it, then save it to **A new layer** or an existing one.

## Work with a layer

Open a layer to see its **Attributes**, change its **Style**, link it to **Projects**, or check its **Source**. From the library, **Export GeoJSON** or **Export CSV** downloads a layer.

  Filter the Wells table to **Inside a My Data layer** to list every well inside one of your areas. See [Filters](/maps/filters).
