# Areas of interest

> Draw the acreage you care about. Areas focus your daily brief and your alerts.

Open **Areas** in the rail. Your areas are listed on the left and drawn on the map on the right. Areas save automatically.

## Draw an area

    Click to add each corner. Double-click, or click the first point again, to finish.

    Use **Edit name & description** on the area's row.

Other ways to add an area:

* **Add the current map view as an area** saves exactly what's on screen.
* **Add** opens the library: pick **Counties**, **Basins** or **Districts**, or drop a file on **File**. Files can be GeoJSON, GeoPackage, KML, FlatGeobuf, or a Shapefile (.zip, or .shp with its sidecar files).

## Edit or delete

* Select an area, then **Edit shape** and drag its corners.
* **Zoom to area** frames it on the map.
* **Delete area** (or **Delete the selected area** in the toolbar) removes it.

  Only project editors can add, edit or delete areas.

* The [daily brief](/enterprise/home#daily-brief) reports activity inside your areas.
* [Alerts](/enterprise/alerts) watch your areas.
* Areas count toward the project's scope alongside its operators or leases.
